LIFE FOR SPECIES final publications: Layman’s Report and After-LIFE Plan
Two documents have been prepared at the conclusion of the LIFE FOR SPECIES project: the Layman’s Report and the After-LIFE Plan. They provide an overview of the project’s achievements and explain how the project partners will continue to use and maintain its results.
The Layman’s Report presents the main activities and results in an accessible, illustrated format. It covers species extinction risk assessments, the preparation of the new Red Data Book of Latvia, improvements in the availability of species data, training for specialists, and public education activities.
The After-LIFE Plan sets out future activities, their implementation timelines, the organisations responsible, and the planned funding. It includes maintaining access to project materials, ensuring the continued maintenance of species data and the tools developed, further developing knowledge, and educating the public. It also outlines continued efforts to use the project’s results to improve species protection legislation.

The LIFE FOR SPECIES project aimed to improve knowledge of Latvia’s threatened and protected species, enhance the quality and availability of species data, develop scientifically sound proposals for updating the list of protected species and improving the legal framework, and increase public awareness and involvement in species conservation.
